As a most distinctive characteristic, black warrior spinel has silver/metallic luster inclusions. The gemstone contains an abundance of extremely fine, flake-like magnetite or hematite inclusions. When light strikes these flake-like inclusions, it reflects scattered silver or bright white sparkles, reminiscent of a brilliant starry sky or the Milky Way against the darkness of night, which is why it is also known as the "Galaxy Spinel"
